FAQ

Most all of our Baseball Batting Cage Nets/Tunnels & Barrier Nets are “hung-square” — the mesh shape looks like a square when viewed straight on. Many prefer square-hung nets because they look cleaner and offer a better line of sight into the tunnel.

Most of our Golf Netting is “hung-diamond” because impact netting is used at close distance and diamond-hung nets flex a bit more, reducing bounce-back — critical in small areas with golf balls.

This is important and can cause problems if not fabricated properly. ALL of our standard Nylon & Poly nets (excluding DuPont) — baseball barriers, tunnels, golf nets, etc. — include knotted border ropes around the perimeter. The 3/8" border rope is tied with twine, not merely woven in and out.

If the rope is not tied, it can slide like a curtain and create a mess.

When comparing nets, ask how often the knots are tied. Some are technically “knotted,” but only every 6–10 feet. Ours are tied every 6–12 inches (often every mesh ≈ 2”) when appropriate.

The standard features included with all of our deluxe stock-sized Batting Cage Nets are:

  • Tied/Knotted 3/8" Border Rope
  • Middle Rib-Line on top (12' or wider)
  • Steel Snaps in corners
  • Lead-Core Bottom Rope (some models)
  • Door-Way
  • Baffle/Impact Net

Custom Batting Cage Nets are built “a la carte,” so you can choose exactly which items to include.

The standard features for our Barrier Nets are:

  • Tied/Knotted 3/8" Border Rope around outside (woven border rope on DuPont nets)
  • Steel Snaps in corners
  • Most baseball nets are “hung-square” — see our Square vs. Diamond comparison.
  • Standard mesh sizes: 1-7/8" for baseball; 7/8" for golf.
  • Knotted construction for direct-impact sports.
  • UV-resistant, dyed black for sun resistance (darker colors reflect more UV; white is worst).
  • Indoor lighting can emit UV — UV-treated netting is still recommended indoors.

The “#” indicates the twine gauge (overall thickness). For example, #21 ≈ 2.0 mm and #36 ≈ 2.5 mm. Higher gauge → thicker twine → higher break strength.

Knotted vs. knotless: Our baseball tunnels and most barrier nets use knotted netting (stronger for direct impact). We also offer some knotless backstop & golf netting — it improves line of sight and can reduce abrasion at close range.

Yes—our netting is commonly used for soccer, football, volleyball, and more. Note that the standard 1-7/8" mesh used for baseball is not suitable for golf practice. We offer smaller mesh specifically for golf. Contact us for help choosing the right net.

Can I Use My Batting Cage Net For Golf?

For practicing your golf game, you need netting designed to trap golf balls. Golf ball netting has a mesh size of 7/8 inch. Ok, now that I can see the difference between the two nets, there’s a simple solution, right? Can’t I just build my entire batting cage tunnel out of golf mesh?.
