Teak does not require a finish, it is only a preference. Natural teak will last a lifetime untreated and weathered. Teak Treatment is an optional custom process therefore PURCHASES MADE WITH TEAK TREATMENT SERVICES SELECTED ARE NON-RETURNABLE AND REQUIRE A 50% NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT TO BEGIN THE TREATMENT PROCESS. THIS EXCLUDES ANY ITEMS THAT ARRIVE DAMAGED OR WITH ANY MANUFACTURING DEFECTS.

Applying a finish might interfere with the natural process of the checks closing on their own and could cause issues later. It’s best to let the wood find its equilibrium naturally.
While you can fill or glue the checks, it’s generally not recommended as this may make them more noticeable and prevent natural closing. The best approach is to manage moisture loss from the wood’s end grain to prevent further spreading.
Checking refers to small cracks that may appear in the end grains of teak over time. This is a natural occurrence and usually does not affect the structural integrity of the furniture. It is primarily a cosmetic issue and tends to be self-limiting.
If you prefer the soft silver-grey patina, use a Teak Patinizer to maintain this look as your furniture weathers naturally.
To maintain the honey color of your teak, use our Teak Protector at the beginning and end of each season. This will help keep your teak furniture looking new all year.
To restore the original color of your teak furniture, use a water-based Teak Cleaner, which penetrates deep into the wood to remove mildew, mold, and dirt.
Teak furniture should be cleaned with a soft bristle brush and soapy water, and then rinsed with clean water. Depending on your environment, this process should typically be completed twice a year.
Yes, untreated teak will weather to a soft-silvery patina within a year or so, depending on exposure to sun and weather. This color change is only on the surface and does not affect the structural integrity of the furniture.
