Home Gym Flooring

Surfaces

There are three flooring solutions for home gyms: Rubber Tiles, Rubber Rolls, and Turf.

Let’s take a quick look at the options to help you decide which one is going to be right for your project.

    Rubber Rolls

Rubber rolls are less expensive per square foot than rubber tiles.

If your roll gets damaged, you may need to replace the entire roll.

If you're using weights in your home gym, we recommend a minimum of 1/4 inch thick rubber rolls.

    Rubber Tiles

Rubber tiles are easier to maintain than rubber rolls.

If you damage a single tile, it can be less expensive to replace, than to replace an entire roll.

    Tile Thickness

Thicker tiles are more expensive than thinner tiles, but are necessary to stand up to the abuse from heavy weights.

We recommend a minimum of 1/4 inch tiles for home gym floors that are going to be seeing a lot of action from weights.

    Turf

Turf is the most expensive option for home gym flooring, but it is also the most durable and looks and feels great underfoot.

Turf is a great choice for home gyms where you'll be doing agility or sled work.

    Tiles

    • Tiles are 2 ft x 2 ft.
    • If tiles are wall to wall, they should sit fine without movement.
    • For smaller areas, or tiled areas that aren't fully surrounded by walls, additional anchoring may be necessary.

    Rubber Rolls

    • Rolls are 4 ft wide and can be cut to any length. Some shops have minimum lengths.
    • Rolls can be anchored to the floor with double sided seaming tape.

    Turf

    • Depending on the type of turf selected, the rolls may be available in 12 or 15 foot widths and can usually be cut to any length. Minimums may apply.
    • Depending on the surface that the turf is installed on the weight of the turf may keep it in place.
    • If additional anchoring is necessary, you can apply double sided seaming tape to the seams and edges.
