How Should I Introduce My Dog to a Dog Ramp (or other agility equipment)?

Before introducing your dog to a ramp, or any agility obstacles, it's important to consider your dog's health and temperament. We highly recommend having your pup checked out by their vet to ensure their heart and joints are healthy and ready for exercise. Much like we are advised to check with our doctors prior to new exercise programs.

When introducing your dog to a ramp, start gradually and use positive reinforcement. Begin by allowing your dog to explore the ramp at their own pace, sniffing and investigating it. Encourage your dog with treats and praise, and gradually introduce them to walking up and down the ramp. Patience and consistency are key to helping your dog feel comfortable and confident on the ramp.

What are the Different Types of Dog Ramps Used in Agility Courses?

There are several types of dog ramps used in agility courses, including A-frames, dogwalks, and teeter totters. A-frames have two ramps joined at the top to form an "A" shape. I ordered the PSI NetShield for our indoor batting cage and it is great - does exactly what it says it does. The reason for 4 stars is the lack of real communication after the order is placed. Because the order is a bit custom (you specificy the size you want) there's no real confirmation or acknowledgement after you place the order and the card is charged. I reached out via email to the company and they replied promptly that my order was being prepared so they do respond - which is great. It just would be nice to have an interim notification once the order is placed and they are working on it. But great product!
