Gym Divider Curtain Basics

Gym Divider Curtains are used by all kinds of facilities – commercial, schools, private, military & even residential uses. This is the easiest way to split a room into sections allowing you to create separate play areas and creating a sound reducing barrier to limit noise between the sections. Dividers are available in both manual (walk & draw) & motorized (fold-up) styles.

We often get asked about he best way to split up a gym or large room into separate areas. The most basic and easiest way to go about this is to use a Gym Divider Curtain. The curtains can also be modified to fit almost any ceiling type, whether it’s a flat or peaked style building.

The walk and draw manual gym curtain is more widespread in use due to it’s simple design and being much less expensive than the fold-up electric option. There are even radial curtains available that allow the curtain to be angled at a curved 90 degrees to allow even more customization of your school or private space. Gym Divider Curtains provide an easy and economical solution to divide your gym space for multiple activities.

Features:

Gym Curtains are constructed of fire-retardant vinyl-coated polyester mesh to allow air flow, or solid vinyl for privacy. A weighted hem is included on the bottom to keep the curtain from moving or swaying when pulled out in place. You can choose the ratio of vinyl to mesh as well. The vinyl is typically located on the bottom section and the mesh is above. So with a 20’H curtain you can use any vinyl and mesh combination (6′ to 14′, 8′ to 12′, 15′ to 5′, etc). The ratio will not affect the price of the curtain. You can also have different colors for the mesh and vinyl to completely customize the look. The curtains are built with reinforced 4” Pocket with ¼ chain ballast along the bottom, brass grommets spaced every 12′ along the top, & the perimeters are finished with 2 rows of lock-stitched thread to ensure the edges will be durable.

Electric Fold-Up Gym Curtain Highlights:

  • Easy installation when attaching direct to beam (additional supporting hardware will be required if no beam available)
  • Electric operation – includes key-switch (remote upgrade available)
  • Easily adjustable with independent cast aluminum cable drums.
  • 3.5″ diameter centerline continuous drive shaft for even curtain balance and load distribution.
  • Includes all cable & attachment hardware + bottom lifting ballast
  • Spool diameters custom designed based on height & curtain load, to achieve quickest operation and safe function
  • Additional supporting hardware available if not mounting direct to bottom of load-bearing beam – inquire for quote.

Electric Peak Fold Curtain Highlights:

  • Equipped with 1/8″ cables, spaced not more than 10′ apart, ending in individual hoist drums.
  • Custom engineered variable diameter cable drums match individual cable travel to the ceiling slope.
  • Hoist driven by 3/4 HP, 115 V AC gear motor with overload thermal protection, dual-keyed toggle key switch.
  • Curtain has 18 oz. or 22 oz. vinyl lower section and 9 oz. vinyl coated mesh upper section, welded seams, fully padded bottom batten.
  • No exposed hardware.

The hardware on these electric systems can be modified which allows them to fit virtually any type of ceiling. There are so many diverse options for these curtains that they can fit any type of facility, whether it’s a decades old building or a brand new state of the art addition.

I am looking for an approximate weight of a motorized gym dividing screen with solid bottom and mesh top. System is approximately 16′ tall. Is there a weight per lin. ft that includes a complete assembly?
